This 2004 release is the latest we've seen from this girl power trio from North Carolina. The album consists of a peppy collection of high energy tracks that keep the album a-flowin'. Unfortunately as of April 2005, the girls are on hiatus. Hopefully, we'll see more from the Butchies in the future. Otherwise, feel free to browse their entire catalogue for earlier material.
Élan Vital - Pretty Girls Make Graves
Although this was released in 2006, this album is the latest & greatest from our Smiths and/or Kerouac fans in Seattle. Although it's not as stellar as their first release Good Health, Élan Vital is a decent album worth checking out. If you're a PGMG fan, you'll either dig it or you'll hate it. However, I highly recommend giving it a few spins before making a final conclusion. This album has a tendency to grow on its listeners.
This 2005 album has turned into my latest obsession. The tracks are bumpin' & gel together nicely. Overall, this is a damn fine collection of electronic/alternative music. Pick it up or download Nite Versions this instant or else. In the meantime, I will be tracking down more albums by Soulwax for my listening pleasure. Life In Pop DVD - Pet Shop Boys
This actually is a really great documentary on who the Pet Shop Boys are and how they came to be. The documentary virtually covers everything from childhood/teenage years to today. It also features cameos from Robbie Williams, Brandon Flowers, Trevor Horn, Jake Shears, and a handful of other celebs. If you're an honest fan, then this DVD is a must.
Pet Shop Boys Catalogue (Hardcover) by Chris Heath
If you're a PSB fan and have not picked up this latest book, then shame on you. This book contains an overwhelming amount of Pet Shop information. It also makes an outstanding coffee table book. Pick it up now or you shall be revoked of your Pethead status. Loser.
The L Word Season Season Four premiered on Jan. 7th. The folks behind-the-scenes have added four new cast members featuring Cybill Shepherd as Phyllis & Marlee Matlin as Jodi. The show also features newcomer Janina Gavankar (Papi) who is not only a native Illinoisan but also a proud U of I graduate. Tune in to Showtime Sundays @ 9pm CST for the latest L Word episode.
'til next time, fools.
