Music News
Loads of new releases to check out. I can't even begin to keep up. Unfortunately, I have to kick it off with bad news. This is a few months past, but I recently came across a blurb in Rolling Stone.
Paul Hester, member of the Split Endz/Crowded House, apparently killed himself this past March. I rather enjoyed Crowded House in my youth and still adore them now so that's a big bummer. If you've never heard of either band, I highly recommend checking them out. The self-titled Crowded House album is a personal favorite of mine.
I failed to produce a thorough review of the new Garbage and NIN album. I apologize, but let me summarize. They rock. Go out and check them out. With Teeth has some really killer tracks but may take a few good spins to get your full enjoyment. Also out...
- The Raveonettes: Pretty In Black
- Coldplay: X&Y
- Oasis: Don't Believe the Truth
- Sleater-Kinney: The Woods
- Gorillaz: Demon Days
- Spoon: Gimme Fiction
- Stephen Malkmus: Face the Truth
Ah..yes.. the return of Lollapalooza. This year they sh!tcanned the tour concept and are doing a two-date stint in Chicago. The event takes place July 23-24 downtown in Grant Park. I pity those who have to travel along Lake Shore Drive (or LSD as I like to call it) or nearby the park during those two days. At any rate, the festival will feature the Pixies, Widespread Panic, Weezer, the Killers, Digable Planets, the Arcade Fire, and a handful of other bands. Not sure if tickets still exist, but they were reportedly going fast.
Until next time....
