Ring the Bells. Tell Everyone!

Jerry Falwell is Dead!

I am overjoyed and have nothing more to add than the approriate lyrics below, which contain some explicit language. There's your warning. If you don't like it, don't read it.

You call yourself the moral majority
We call ourselves the people in the real world
Trying to rub us out, but were going to survive
God must be dead if youre alive

You say, God loves you. come and buy the good news
Then you buy the president and swimming pools
If jesus dont save til were lining your pockets
God must be dead if youre alive

Circus-tent con-men and southern belle bunnies
Milk your emotions then they steal your money
Its the new dark ages with the fascists toting bibles
Cheap nostalgia for the salem witch trials

Stodgy ayatollahs in their dobble-knit ties
Burn lots of books so they can feed you their lies
Masturbating with a flag and a bible
God must be dead if youre alive

Blow it out your ass, Jerry Falwell
Blow it out your ass, Jesse Helms
Blow it out your ass, Ronald Reagan
Whats wrong with a mind of my own?

You dont want abortions, you want battered children
You want to ban the pill as if that solves the problem
Now you wanna force us to pray in school
God must be dead if youre such a fool

Youre planning for a war with or without Iran
Building a police state with the ku klux klan
Pissed at your neighbour? dont bother to nag
Pick up the phone and turn in a fag

Blow it out your ass, Terry Dolan
Blow it out your ass, Phyllis Schlafly
Ram it up your cunt, Anita
Cos God must be dead
If youre alive
God must be dead
If youre alive

Drink Up Bitches

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingWell...well...well...it's almost that time again. It is officially Guinness season. 10 days 'til St. Patrick's Day. The 24th Annual Dogtown St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Saturday, March 17th. The parade is scheduled to begin at 12:00pm. However, I'd get my ass down there early if you want a prime spot on the parade route. If you were so lucky to get an invite to my celebration, love me because you're hooked up for the day. However, I have goodies to give away to passers by or those who feel like showing their shamrocks. At any rate, the good folks at Guinness have been promoting their drinking season at various Irish pubs and bars across the metro area. Tonight is one of the Guinness Legacy events featuring free appetizers and samples of Guinness products. The Legacy events are private events so hopefully you received your invite if you're a Guinness lover. Other pubs are offering pint glasses, samples, and other goodies on specific nights so check your local hot spots. One can never have enough Guinness gear. The annual city parade will also be held on Saturday, March 17th, but screw the family scene and come on down to Dogtown for the day.

The 2007 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup has been announced. This year's festival is a 3-day.....that's right 3-day mouth watering onslaught of spectacular sound. The Coach. folks once again represent the old school artists such as the Happy Mondays, Crowded House, Rage, the Jesus & Mary Chain, and Sonic Youth. Folks, this is really a phenomenal lineup, and you'll be damn lucky to catch some of these artists live ever again. So do yourself a favor and go for it. I guarantee it to be a weekend to remember. I, for one, will definitely feel some emptiness throughout the last weekend of April since I am officially NOT GOING this year.

Can't make it to Coachella this year? Sink your teeth into this...

Beautiful Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN. The Police.....are you kidding me? As you can see, there are several artists appearing at both festivals. If you're not up for the hike to Cali., then head on down to Manchester for a weekend. This festival, like Coachella, is one of the premier festivals in the country. It's close, affordable, and oodles of fun.

A Weekend in the City is the latest release from Bloc Party. Do yourself a huge favor. Pick it up. Listen to it over & over again. The first single released was "I Still Remember", which is a great song. This is the third and best release from Bloc Party, in my honest opinion. This album along with the entire Bloc Party catalogue is available at
Emusic . Sign up and support indie music.

That is all, you dirty buggers!

Have a safe, Guinness fueled St. Paddy's Day!

The Death of Tradition, Loyalty, and Pride

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The great Chief Illiniwek debate and controversy dating back to the mid-1970s will come to a close on Wednesday, Feb. 21st, at the Assembly Hall in Champaign. The Board of Trustees finally succumbed to the pressure of the NCAA, public, and Chief-haters at a hearing last Friday. The Chief and the 81-year old tradition will all come to a grinding halt. There will be no more halftime performances at basketball or football games. All imagery associated with the Chief will no longer be used by the University including all Illini athletics and the Marching Illini. However, the University will still retain the Fighting Illini and Illini names because basically the NCAA doesn't have a leg to stand on in regards to that debate. The upside? The University will be removed the the list of universities in violation to the NCAA's policy regarding Native American imagery, and all sanctions against the DIA (Division of Intercollegiate Athletics) will be lifted. In English, the University will be allowed once again to host post-season events.
Is this worth giving up the fight for? Not in my opinion, but I am just a loyal, avid follower of the beloved Fighting Illini. I will say that halftime at the football games will seem very empty & sad next fall. The well-renowned 'Three-In-One" performance will take on a whole new appearance and meaning after the Chief is gone. The University has not yet stated who or what will be the replacement for the Chief. They have also made no comment as to what direction they plan to go as far as assigning a new mascot. Wednesday evening will be a sad day for all who bleed orange & blue. Unfortunately, the end of the Chief has been on the minds of Illini fans for several months now as hope continued to dwindle and the official resignation seemed imminent. I highly recommend buying all the Chief gear you can find. Once it's gone, it's gone. Soon Chief memorabilia will be selling for 2-3x the original price via online auction sights. The NCAA may have forced the university to retire the Chief, but it will never stop the orange & blue fans from showing their support and respect for their beloved mascot. So wear your Chief gear with great pride, and keep his spirit alive and well for many years to come.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Make Yr Life - The Butchies Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This 2004 release is the latest we've seen from this girl power trio from North Carolina. The album consists of a peppy collection of high energy tracks that keep the album a-flowin'. Unfortunately as of April 2005, the girls are on hiatus. Hopefully, we'll see more from the Butchies in the future. Otherwise, feel free to browse their entire catalogue for earlier material.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Élan Vital - Pretty Girls Make Graves Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Although this was released in 2006, this album is the latest & greatest from our Smiths and/or Kerouac fans in Seattle. Although it's not as stellar as their first release Good Health, Élan Vital is a decent album worth checking out. If you're a PGMG fan, you'll either dig it or you'll hate it. However, I highly recommend giving it a few spins before making a final conclusion. This album has a tendency to grow on its listeners.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Nite Versions - Soulwax Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This 2005 album has turned into my latest obsession. The tracks are bumpin' & gel together nicely. Overall, this is a damn fine collection of electronic/alternative music. Pick it up or download Nite Versions this instant or else. In the meantime, I will be tracking down more albums by Soulwax for my listening pleasure.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Life In Pop DVD - Pet Shop Boys Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This actually is a really great documentary on who the Pet Shop Boys are and how they came to be. The documentary virtually covers everything from childhood/teenage years to today. It also features cameos from Robbie Williams, Brandon Flowers, Trevor Horn, Jake Shears, and a handful of other celebs. If you're an honest fan, then this DVD is a must.

If you're a PSB fan and have not picked up this latest book, then shame on you. This book contains an overwhelming amount of Pet Shop information. It also makes an outstanding coffee table book. Pick it up now or you shall be revoked of your Pethead status. Loser.
