What's up, folks? It's sumsum..ok I'll stop. So I have no new tale to tell...no new tale to tell. I did it again, didn't I? Warm weather is in full effect. Time to dust of the tent and sleeping bags, and spend the weekend binge drinking in the middle of nowhere floating endlessly down one of many rivers. Camping gives one the perfect excuse to crack open that ice, cold beer at say 8am or so.
Beer makes a wonderful breakfast. I strongly suggest
The concert series is on. The big event of the summer is the resurrection of the Live Aid movement. Bob Geldolf and co. have put together a spectacular gathering of musicians for Live 8, which will kick off on July 2nd. The event will be held in six various cities, mainly throughout Europe. Philadelphia will be the only US location to catch this event, and quite frankly the lineup sucks. This event will most likely be broadcast live via satellite/PPV/and/or cable so check your local listings. Here are some of the highlights for each location:
- Berlin - a-ha; Brian Wilson; Crosby, Stills, & Nash
- London - LOADS...by far the best lineup including The Cure, Coldplay, Annie Lennox, Bob Geldof, Keane, Scissor Sisters, U2, Snow Patrol, The Killers, Madonna, Elton John, R.E.M., and Paul McCartney...for f*ck's sake!
- Paris - Jamiroquai
- Philadephia - Will Smith; Stevie Wonder; Sarah McLachlan; Dave Matthews Band
- Rome - Duran Duran
- Scotland - Annie Lennox; Dido; The Proclaimers; Travis
There's also a good chance that Pink Floyd will put aside their differences and perform at this event....most likely the London show. Check out the Live 8 site for details and lineup updates.
What else is going down in the underground? Ah yes... the final season of is underway. It seems like just yesterday the world (or at least HBO subscribers) was introduced to the Fishers and their family business. It appears that this season is the season of mental illness. How will it all end? Who will flip out and who will die? Sorry...trying to heighten the suspense. At any rate, it's on Monday night at 8pm CST or you can catch the rerun several times throughout the week or watch it on demand. Besides SFU, there are several other final seasons this year including the Sopranos and Queer as Folk.
Until next time.....
